Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-26
We keep cookies to the minimum a signed-in service needs. This page lists every item we store in your browser — by name.
Cookies we set
- mt_sess — session cookie, strictly necessary; created when you sign in, keeps you signed in, deleted on sign-out. It contains a random session identifier only.
Browser storage (localStorage — never sent to the server)
- mt_theme (theme), mt_units (units), mt_favs / mt_favpts (favourite airports and map points), mt_basemap, mt_labels, mt_airspace, mt_wxanim (map layer choices), mt_c3zoom (3D zoom), mt_ap (last airport). These preferences stay on your device.
What we do not use
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense) — set by Google and its partners on pages shown to signed-out visitors, to serve, cap and measure ads. We neither set nor read them; they follow Google's own policies. Members see no ads and the ad script is not loaded at all, so signing in removes them entirely. No fingerprinting by us.
- Analytics are cookieless: aggregate counters without IP storage and without cross-site identifiers.
Third-party requests
Map tiles and weather data are fetched from their providers (e.g. tile servers, NOAA/AWC, Open-Meteo). Like every HTTP request these carry your IP address to that provider, but we set no third-party cookies through them.
Managing
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings; without mt_sess only sign-in stops working. Clearing site data also resets the preferences above. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are shown Google's consent screen before any advertising cookie is set, and can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the same screen. If you want no ads and no advertising cookies at all, sign in — members browse ad-free.
